JOHN VALENTIM - CLUB'S NEW TECHNICAL SUPPORT COACH

TSC John Valentim

The Comox Valley United Soccer Club enhanced the development and support for its youth soccer coaches. To achieve this, the clubhas contracted the services of experienced soccer coach John Valentim, for the newly created position of Technical Support Coach (TSC). In this role, John helped train coaches of U5 through to U12 boys and girls teams, by running numerous "coach-the-coach" style sessions throughout the Spring season. As well, he met with, supported and helped develop coaches while they implemented their newly learned skills.

CVUSC Welcomes Whitecaps with Energetic Youth!

Over one thousand energetic and enthusiastic Comox Valley United Soccer Club youth players and their families and coaches were entertained and coached by a dozen Whitecaps Development staff over a weekend with Whitecaps and Canadian Soccer Legends' Carl Valentine and Sam Lenarduzzi leading the charge! The development clinic took place at the CVUSC Clubhouse on Valley View fields 9 am - 4 pm both Saturday and Sunday. The training sessions were individually developed for groups ranging in age from 5 to 17 years old and all sessions emphasized individual balance, agility and coordination, technical soccer skills development and above all having fun! The event was highlighted by having two current members of the Whitecaps Men's Team: Russell Teibert and Michael Boxall, flown in for autograph signing engagements from 12:30 - 3 pm each day. Players were treated with the chance to meet and train with two past CVUSC youth players now realizing their dreams as part of the Whitecaps Residency Program and Womans teams namely: Nolan Wirth and Penne Hughes. These individuals began playing soccer in the Valley and through their own journeys of strength and determination are now part of the elite Whitecaps Program- acting as great role models for our local players. "This was just a fantastic clinic thoroughly enjoyed by all CVUSC House players" said CVUSC VP Development and organizer Ash Mohtadi. "I'm already working with Sam to put together the second phase of this partenership by having the Whitecaps come back to the Valley to train Select players in the very near future and beyond!"
