CVUSC - Volunteers
Volunteering can be a fun and gratifying way to help our club. The smooth operation of this soccer club depends on it. With over 1,000 youth enrolled each season, parents are urged to help out in anyway they can.
Volunteer Fees - Recently, our club has been facing the difficulties of "too few" people taking on the brunt of the volunteer workload required for its smooth operation. In the Fall of 2010, a committee was struck to address the problem. It seems that a common way other clubs address this issue is to impose a "volunteering opt-out" fee requiring families to submit a deposit cheque - usually for around $75 to $100. If a certain quota of volunteer hours is met, the cheque will not be cashed. Our committee concluded that before having to take such a step, it would be better to streamline efforts to inform our members of the tasks needed to be accomplished so that people could volunteer without the burden of being asked to submit a deposit. Recently, we compiled a list of volunteer positions which is viewable under the "volunteers" tab on this website.
We strongly urge parents to help out our club by signing up to one of these many volunteer positions. By doing so, you will help our club run more smoothly, help control costs, and make the soccer experience as enjoyable to everyone as possible. To volunteer, simply follow these steps.
1.) Browse the "Volunteer Positions List" by clicking here and select one that is still needed. (The list is updated regularly). Some very simple volunteering examples are working in the concession for a few shifts, moving goals, or volunteering to assist equipment distribution and recovery. Other positions are more involved and may require some guidance.
2.) Contact our Volunteer Coordinator Blythe Reimer by filling out the form. By clicking the link here If you want to coach or manage a house soccer team, contact one our House Soccer Division Managers (listed under House Contacts). Division managers will then submit their lists of coaches and team managers to the Volunteer Coordinator for tracking.
3.) Our Volunteer Coordinator will confirm with you via e-mail your volunteer task assignment. Our House division manager will confirm your coaching/managing position.
4.) Do your selected Volunteering.
5.) E-mail our Volunteer Coordinator that you have completed the task including a confirmation of the number of hours taken to complete the task. Her e-mail address is cvuscvolunteercoordinator@gmail.com
Thank you for helping out!
