Coaches Main Page

Our Coaches are the face of our club and our most important resource. Coaching can be very rewarding and whether you are new to soccer or an experienced player it is our goal to offer our coaches all the resources required to make their coaching experience very rewarding. We offer Certification and Coach-the-Coach clinic to give coaches on field experience. Plus we will continue to add to these pages the resources to help you be effective in your coaching. Good coaching is a much about organization and enthusiasm as it is about athleticism. Patience and love are your most powerful tools in coaching so bring lots of both to the pitch.

Coach-the-coach

CVUSC has programmed several Coaching clinics covering all areas of coaching development from the brand new parent, novice coach, through to Select coach. The intent is to provide you the coach all the tools you need to develop yourself in to the best coach and our youth into the best soccer players they can be while having fun. All the clinics outlined below are free to all CVUSC coaches. CVUSC will typically only pay for one of these clinics per calendar year, unless special permission is given explicitly by the VP Development. Clinics will be held at the CVUSC Clubhouse and Valley View Fields. Come prepared with food, snacks and water and prepared to play with the appropriate soccer playing strip. There will be on-field play (mostly) and some classroom discussion so bring a note pad and pen as well. There is no better way to build your confidence and understanding of the basics of coaching, I highly recommend all coaches to take at least one clinic per year- our Comox Valley youth deserve it.

Previous goalkeeping experience is not required. This is not a NCCP certification course. Registration information see IMPORTANT NOTES below.

Grassroots Coaches Handbook

BC Soccer is please to introduce the Coaches Handbook for 6 – 12 year old players. For the first time, we have designed a 8 week training program for Under 6 – Under 9’s and a 16 week training program for Under 10 – Under 12 year old players. This will provide a complete training curriculum for our small sided coaches. The purpose of the Coaches Handbook is to assist our coaches in standardizing the complete training session within your club or district. Whether young players choose soccer as a lifelong sport is determined to a high degree by the content of the training program. Registration information see IMPORTANT NOTES below.
