Youth House League - Game Format

There is a general agreement among national soccer associations that small-sided soccer is best suited to teaching soccer to young children. CVUSC believes in this philosophy because small-sided games provide the players more touches. More touches equals better players.

The following are the game formats in each of our age divisions. These game formats were taken from BCSA Rules and Regulations Rule 26 Mini Soccer.

  • Micros U6 Coed (boys and girls)

    • Play 3v3 without goalkeepers

    • Field measures approximately 15x20 metres

  • U7 and U8 Coed and Girls

    • Play 4v4 (3 field players and one goalkeeper)

    • Field measures approximately 20x30 metres

    • Goal size Mini

  • U9 and U 10 Coed and Girls

    • Play 6v6 (5 field players and one goalkeeper)

    • Field measures approximately 30x40 metres (1/4 full soccer field)

    • Goal size midi 12 (12 feet goal frame)

    • Play 8v8 (7 field players and one goalkeeper)

    • Field measures approximately 45x70 metres (half full soccer field)
