BC Provincial Training Programs

BC Soccer has confirmed all the locations, dates and times for the Regional evaluations. Please click on this link to view the announcement. All CVUSC Players interested register through the links on the BC Soccer site for "The Island Region". Registration is actually done via the Nanaimo Youth Soccer Site- once you get to it through the BC Soccer site link click on the "Activities" menu and then find the Gender/Age Group for you. Follow the Registration format. I would also ask that you contact me at: almohtadi@shaw.ca so that I'm aware of those who plan to attend. In my support to the DDC Program I will be tracking all players interested in participating and being part of any follow-on evaluations. I would highly encourage all players who have aspirations of playing Provincially, Nationally, or at a University level to participate in this.

Coaching Development Programs

CVUSC Local Sessions: Bambinos/Micros/Newcomer Coaches Clinic.

-  Skills Session 0900-1200 and Understanding the game 1300-1500.
-  REVISED DATE NOW 5 SEP 09 2009 at Valley View Fields.
-  These sessions are a must for any first time coach.
-   Its all about fun games to play/coach with the kids, soccer skills basics, child development, and basically how to run a practise.
-   The second 2 hours in the afternoon is dedicated to how to position kids on the field, how corner kicks work, what's the goal area- a fundamentals approach on how to play the game for the U6 to U10 players.

BC Soccer Community Coach Clinics:
-  Child (12 Sep 09), Youth (19/20 Sep 09), and Senior Clinics (TBD)
-  The courses are free of charge to CVUSC coaches and an excellent way to give you confidence and skills as a coach. I can't say enough about how valuable and fun the clinics are. In addition to theory and practical coaching aspects, you will learn a great deal from the other coaches. If you have young kids and you plan to coach them as they grow older what better way to educate yourself in a fun clinic!

Fall 2009 DDC Programs
District Development Centre
The Comox Valley DDC will offer two programs his fall. An Academy for U11 Boys and Girls and an "Individual Attacking Skills clinic" for the U12 to U14 Select player.

U-11 Boys and Girls program will start on August 31st and offer 10 sessions 5:30 to 7:00 on Monday nights. Ash Mohtadi, Canadian Soccer National B license, will run the girls program while Darrin McLeod, BCSA Provincial B License, will co-ordinate the boys program. For more information see the Comox Valley DDC website or e-mail Ash almohtadi@shaw.ca or Darrin mcleodclan@telus.net.

Ash will also coordinate a Friday Individual Attacking Skills" clinic. This clinic is directed towards the U12-U14 Select player interested in perfecting individual and combination attacking play and "finishing".  The clinic Fridays 5:30 to 7:00 starts 4 Sept and runs through to 30 Oct (inclusive). More information on the clinic will be posted on the DDC website shortly. Interested Players can contact Ash almohtadi@shaw.ca directly.

BC SOCCER ENTRY LEVEL REFEREE CLINIC TO BE HOSTED BY CVUSC

CALLING TEENS (14+) AND ADULTS TO JOIN THE SOCCER REFEREE FAMILY

The fields will soon be alive with the sounds of players of all ages enjoying their fall season of soccer. Whether it be during the week with the Senior Boys' High School schedule underway and the multitude of community practices, or on the weekends when Saturday House Leagues, Sunday Youth Select, VISL Men's Leagues, MIWSL Women's or Master's games, the sport is very healthy in  the Comox Valley. With the expanded number of games, comes the inevitable juggling act of getting officials for all games. There probably isn't a community in the province that thinks it has enough qualified referees. Our Valley has a dedicated nucleus of very capable, dependable referees, but, as with most non-university towns, we are resigned to losing many of our bright youth officials once they are finished high school, leaving almost no twenty-somethings in the local association. With many adults enjoying playing beyond their 30's, even 40's and 50's, it's not surprising that the two most representative age ranges in the local soccer refereeing community are teens and sexagenarians.

I'm calling on teens (14+) and adults of all ages, who know and love the game, adults who may even still be playing for example,  to consider registering for a BC Soccer entry level clinic, and learn alongside some of our enthusiastic youth participants, what enjoyment can be gained from knowing the game on a whole new level. Please consider contributing to the game in this most vital of roles.

Clinic Dates: Thursday, October 22nd (6:00pm - 10pm) ; Friday, October 23rd (6:00pm - 10pm)
Saturday, October 24th (9am - 5pm) classroom and practical on-field coverage

Clinic Location: CVUSC Clubhouse on Lerwick (between Valley View & Isfeld Schools)
Cost: $100 (Successful youth participants will be refunded half the cost by Comox Valley United Soccer Club.)

Contact: Stu Power (CVUSC Head Referee) via email - visranorth@shaw.ca
Or phone with any questions you might have at: 339-6256
